Nara Repository is a facility which was established by Act on the Management of Archives pursuant to the 'Act related to the Archive Management of Public Institutes' enacted in 1999 to preserve national records of the past to the present and the future. With its 3 basement floors and 7 floors, this building has a capacity to store records up to 4 million books and those records are safeguarded with cutting-edge technologies such as temperature and humidity control facilities, security, access control system, explosion, earthquake and fire proof systems ensuring that those national records can be stored in an optimized and safe environment.
The repository is equipped with National Archive Exhibition Hall with records from each era starting from Geumseokmun to the modern day, Presidential Archive Exhibition Hall where records related to the presidential affairs and gifts from country leaders are exhibited, Experience Hall that allows visitors to personally create or draw records thus understanding their value easily as well as Archive Culture Experience Classes. Through various fun methods, visitors would be able to regard records differently and feel inspired by the outstanding recording culture and traditions of our ancestors.
